The amount of USD 1 million is the journalists’ estimate, not an amount established by investigators. The MP acknowledged knowing the woman but denied a relationship. In addition, according to the case materials, he used a 380 m² house in Kozyn, a car and motorcycles registered to his former mother-in-law, as well as a Range Rover owned by Central GOK (beneficiary — Rinat Akhmetov); no amounts are given for these. In January 2018 NABU opened criminal proceedings on suspicion of false declaration, in December 2018 closed them for lack of corpus delicti, and in early February 2019 SAPO resumed the investigation. No notice of suspicion has been made public for this episode; the further fate of the proceedings has not been established in the sources.
