On 1 June 2016 NABU detained both before they received the rest of the money. Both were found guilty under Article 368(4) of the Criminal Code: 9 years of imprisonment with confiscation of half of their property and a ban on holding positions (3 years for the village head, 2 years for the deputy). On 10 June 2024 the Appeals Chamber of the HACC upheld the sentence (the verdict entered into force — NACP Register), and on 15 April 2025 the Supreme Court upheld the verdict (TI Ukraine).
