According to a Bihus.Info investigation, Ye. Ablov, transferred in 2010 from the Odesa District Administrative Court to the District Administrative Court of Kyiv, in 2013 received from the state a service apartment of about 140 m² in a new building in the centre of Kyiv as a judge who had no housing in the capital. In December 2013, together with other judges of the District Administrative Court of Kyiv, he obtained through the court the removal of the apartment from the service housing stock (the ground for the lawsuit was that the newly built apartment without renovation was unfit for living), privatised it in 2015, and in 2016 sold it for UAH 9 million 100 thousand (the episode amount is the sale price given in Bihus.Info articles; the video gives a rounded UAH 9 million). The journalists note that at the time of receiving the service housing the judge's family had an apartment and a house in Odesa, and after the sale the family bought two apartments in Odesa. The judge explained the sale to the journalists by saying that the family had returned to Odesa because of the journalists' attention. The journalists do not claim that the privatisation was illegal, but point out that by law judges may privatise service housing only after 10 years of work. This is a journalistic investigation: no official criminal proceedings have been registered regarding this episode.
