Charges of creating a criminal organisation and misappropriating over UAH 47 million through 'paper' FPV drone procurement

According to the investigation, in 2024 the then commander of a military unit created a criminal organisation of three subordinate servicemen and a civilian owner of sham companies. In April–December 2024, 37 contracts were concluded for the supply of FPV drones and optical equipment; on paper 1,815 drones were 'purchased' but never delivered to the unit, and some sights were replaced with cheaper ones. The losses amount to over UAH 47 million. On 12 January 2026 the participants were detained and served notices of suspicion; on 16 September 2026 the Specialised Defence Prosecutor's Office of the Eastern Region sent the indictment to court (Art. 255(3), Art. 27(3) and 191(5), Art. 28(4) and 366(1) of the Criminal Code). Official statements do not name him; according to a Ukrainska Pravda source, this is the former commander of the 60th Mechanized Brigade, Colonel Andrii Borodin. There is no verdict.
