According to the HACC verdict of 30 July 2021, in December 2017 the director of the Institute of Agroecology and Environmental Management of the NAAS demanded USD 500 thousand from the founder of a company that was building a residential complex on the institute's land plot for not terminating the joint activity agreement, and on 30 December 2017 received part of it — USD 300 thousand, after which he was detained by NABU. The actions were qualified under Article 368(4) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine; he was sentenced to 8 years' imprisonment with a ban on holding certain positions for 3 years and confiscation of all property. On 6 June 2022 the Appeals Chamber of the HACC upheld the verdict (the ruling entered into force upon its pronouncement); according to Transparency International Ukraine, on 4 October 2022 the Supreme Court upheld the verdict.
