According to a Bihus.Info investigation, the 2022 declaration of Member of Parliament (MP) Oleksandr Kachnyi states that his 87-year-old mother-in-law, together with her husband, gave the MP's wife UAH 6.5 million as a gift. The mother-in-law lives in an old five-storey building on the outskirts of Kyiv and, according to her, worked as a chief accountant and had no business. The MP explained that his wife's parents sold a house and gave the money to their children. After the report, the NACP began monitoring the MP's lifestyle; according to LIGA.net, NABU's investigation into illicit enrichment (a separate episode, assets of 2020–2021) began after this report. No official proceedings regarding the gift itself were found in verified sources; this is a journalistic investigation.

According to NABU and SAPO, in 2020–2021 the MP acquired assets worth significantly more than his declared income: a cottage with a land plot in the village of Kobleve on the Black Sea coast and a 132.6 sq m apartment in central Kyiv registered to other persons (design and renovation — over UAH 5.5 million). A notice of suspicion under Article 368-5 of the Criminal Code was served on 6 April 2026; NABU gives the amount as «almost UAH 13 million», SAPO and the media as UAH 12.7 million; UAH 12.7 million has been entered in the record. The HACC imposed a pre-trial restraint measure — bail of UAH 3 million. The investigation was completed in June 2026; on 8 September 2026 SAPO sent the indictment to the HACC together with an agreement concluded with the MP; according to media reports, in early October 2026 the HACC did not approve the agreement and allowed it to be resubmitted. There is no verdict.
