Compensation of UAH 758,000 for staying at the “Kyiv” hotel while owning housing in the capital

According to the circumstances set out in the HACC verdict, from 2 December 2014 to 30 November 2018 the Administrative Department of the Verkhovna Rada, on the basis of applications by an MP of the 8th convocation, accrued and transferred to SE "Hotel Complex 'Kyiv'" funds for his accommodation in a hotel room, although he had his own housing in Kyiv; the amount was UAH 758,240. In December 2019 NABU served a notice of suspicion (UAH 738 thousand was cited at the time). On 5 July 2021 he voluntarily reimbursed UAH 758,240. On 20 September 2022 the HACC acquitted him; on 8 August 2023 the Appeals Chamber overturned the verdict and ordered a new trial. On 19 January 2024 the HACC approved a plea agreement: guilty under Article 364(2) of the Criminal Code, 3 years' imprisonment with release from serving the sentence on probation for 2 years, a ban on holding positions in state authorities for 1 year, and a fine of UAH 17 thousand. The verdict entered into force on 20 February 2024. Case No. 991/5148/20.
