Charges of extorting USD 300,000 for “assistance” in appointment to a senior position at NJSC “Naftogaz of Ukraine”

According to NABU and SAPO, the head of one of the main departments of the Office of the President, a former Deputy Minister of Culture (2011) and their accomplice demanded USD 300 thousand from an individual for assistance in being appointed to a senior position at NJSC Naftogaz of Ukraine; on 12 November 2019 they were detained after receiving the first tranche of USD 150 thousand. On 26 November 2020 SAPO sent the indictment to the Pecherskyi District Court of Kyiv; the actions were qualified as attempted fraud (Article 15(2), Article 190(4) of the Criminal Code). According to Wikipedia, on 2 October 2020 the prosecutor closed the proceedings in the part concerning incitement to offer an undue advantage (Article 15(2), Article 27(4), Article 369(3) of the Criminal Code) due to the absence of the elements of an offence. As of 3 October 2026, the outcome of the trial has not been verified. Official announcements do not name her; the full name is based on reports by LB.ua, Ukrainska Pravda, Censor.NET and the Office of the President's confirmation of the detention of the head of the department.
