Compensation for renting a hotel room in Kyiv to an MP who had his own housing (almost UAH 914,000)

According to NABU and SAPO, in 2014–2019 a Member of Parliament of the 8th convocation received compensation from the budget of the Verkhovna Rada Secretariat for renting a hotel room in Kyiv while concealing that he owned an apartment in the capital; the amount was almost UAH 914 thousand. The notice of suspicion was served in 2024. On 28.11.2025 the HACC found Arkadii Kornatskyi guilty under Article 364(2) of the Criminal Code and sentenced him to 3 years and 6 months' imprisonment with a 3-year ban on holding positions and a fine of UAH 8.5 thousand. The verdict has been appealed; as of 03.10.2026 no information was found on the appeal hearing or the verdict's entry into force, so the person is presumed innocent until a final decision. Kornatskyi claims he had no habitable housing in Kyiv and considers the case fabricated.
