Undue advantage of EUR 311,600 from “SKODA JS a.s.” for assistance in Ukraine and its laundering

According to NABU and SAPO, in July 2014 an MP who then chaired the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Fuel and Energy Complex, Nuclear Policy and Nuclear Safety received from the management of the Czech company «SKODA JS a.s.» (the «United Heavy Machinery Plants» holding, owned by Russia's «Gazprombank») undue advantage of EUR 311,600 for promoting its interests in relations with SE «NNEGC «Energoatom» and «Chornobyl NPP». According to the investigation, the funds were transferred under the guise of agency services to a Cypriot company affiliated with the MP and laundered through offshore companies. A notice of suspicion was served on 28 July 2022, and the indictment was sent to the HACC on 14 February 2023; on 4 June 2025 the HACC released him from liability for money laundering (Article 209(2) of the Criminal Code) due to the expiry of the statute of limitations, while the trial under Article 368(4) of the Criminal Code continues.
