According to investigators (Kharkiv regional prosecutor's office), in 2012–2023 the vice-rector for academic affairs of one of Kharkiv's leading universities, together with the director of a contractor firm and a works foreman, arranged the employment of 9 fictitious building-maintenance workers; they were credited with salaries and bonuses, which the persons involved withdrew from the cards. Amount — almost UAH 14.3 million. The prosecutor's office does not name the university or the persons; according to sources of Ukrainska Pravda, it is KhAI, and the main person involved is former rector Mykola Nechyporuk. On 31 January 2025 the indictment (Article 191(4), (5) of the Criminal Code; for the official also Article 366(1) of the Criminal Code) was sent to the Kyivskyi District Court of Kharkiv; the investigation was conducted by the National Police of Ukraine. There is no verdict. Died on 5 August 2025 (according to Wikipedia); closure of proceedings has not been verified.
