According to the Office of the Prosecutor General, in 2021–2025 the incumbent Deputy Mayor of Zhytomyr bought a land plot, built a residential house of almost 200 sq. m on it and bought a Volkswagen Touareg car; according to an expert's conclusion, the value of the unjustified assets exceeds the family's declared income by more than UAH 9.3 million. According to investigators, to conceal the property he "fictitiously" divorced his wife while continuing to live with her, and registered the plot and the house in her name. A notice of suspicion under Article 368-5(1) of the Criminal Code was served on 19.06.2026 (procedural supervision: Zhytomyr Regional Prosecutor's Office); detention in custody was ordered with the alternative of bail of UAH 832 thousand. The OPG does not name him; according to Zhytomyr.info and LIGA.net, this is Oleksandr Shevchuk. There is no verdict; the person is presumed innocent.
