According to Bihus.Info, during several weeks of observation Oleksandr Simchuk, a state inspector at the Zakhidnyi customs post, drove a new BMW X5M worth about USD 90 thousand registered to his wife’s sister — a fitness trainer with no income commensurate with such a purchase; in recent years a Jaguar, a Lexus, a Toyota Land Cruiser and several Mercedes-Benz and BMW cars were also registered to her, which, judging by social media photos, were driven by the customs officer’s family. Journalists also recorded him in a Toyota RAV4 registered to his father. Simchuk did not declare any of these cars; his salary according to his declaration is about UAH 9 thousand per month. The customs officer denied using the BMW and provided no explanation. No official proceedings are named in the sources; this is a journalistic investigation, no official proceedings have been registered (according to available data).
