According to investigators, in the period from 2011 to 2014 the head of the State Forest Resources Agency of Ukraine, with the assistance of his wife, demanded and received from a number of foreign companies USD 3.7 million and EUR 10.8 million (UAH 141.3 million at the NBU exchange rate at the time of receipt) in exchange for extending timber supply contracts; the funds came in as payment for allegedly “marketing services” and were subsequently laundered. A notice of suspicion was served in absentia in May 2016 (Prosecutor General's Office), after which NABU investigated the case. On 7 May 2024 NABU and SAPO sent the indictment to court (Article 368(4), Article 209(3) of the Criminal Code). Other sources give a different amount: the Prosecutor General's Office in 2016 — over UAH 140 million; NABU materials cited in a 2019 court decision — UAH 144.717 million. The name is not stated in NABU's statement; the full name is according to LB.ua and Glavcom. As of 7 May 2024 there is no verdict; the further course of the case has not been checked. The person is presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
