According to NABU and SAPO, in summer 2017 the director of SE Tsentrhaz of OJSC Kirovohradhaz, on the eve of his dismissal, concluded a contract for the purchase of 1.3 million cubic metres of gas for UAH 9.035 million on terms burdensome for the enterprise; the UAH 8.6 million prepayment was recovered as a penalty for alleged non-performance of the contract. On 24.06.2019 he was served a notice of suspicion under Article 191(5) of the Criminal Code. On 6.08.2020 the HACC found Kostiantyn Starovoit guilty and sentenced him to 8 years' imprisonment; on 10.02.2021 the Appeals Chamber of the HACC upheld the verdict.
