Illicit enrichment of over UAH 98 million by a Rivne Oblast Council member who headed the region's forestry sector

According to the SBI, a member of the Rivne Oblast Council who until February 2023 headed the Rivne Regional Forestry and Hunting Department and was then deputy head of the Polissia Forest Office of SE "Forests of Ukraine" acquired assets whose value significantly exceeds his lawful income; during searches in November 2023 more than USD 4 million in cash in various currencies, cars and valuables were seized. On 25.11.2023 he was served with a notice of suspicion under Article 368-5 of the Criminal Code. On 29.05.2024 the HACC approved a plea agreement with a SAPO prosecutor: Sukhovych was found guilty of illicit enrichment and sentenced to 5 years' imprisonment with release from serving the sentence on probation (probation period of 3 years); the verdict entered into force on 29.06.2024 (NACP Register of Corrupt Officials). According to TI Ukraine, the value of the assets exceeds his lawful income by more than UAH 98 million, and UAH 98 million was confiscated; the SBI reported that UAH 104 million of seized funds had been transferred to the budget.
