Mercedes-Benz S-Coupe 400 in the declaration at UAH 80,000 with a customs value of UAH 1.66 million

In his 2020 declaration, Deputy Prosecutor General Oleksii Symonenko stated that on 10.08.2017 his wife acquired a 2016 Mercedes-Benz S-Coupe 400 worth UAH 80,000. According to «Slovo i Dilo», citing the NACP's conclusion following a full audit of the declaration, the customs value of this car upon import into Ukraine was UAH 1,661,000, and its market value in 2017 was UAH 1,693,000; the NACP noted that this may indicate signs of a corruption-related administrative offence, but that bringing him to liability is impossible due to the expiry of the time limits. In the Bihus.Info video the customs value is given as «UAH 1.6 million» and the market value as «about UAH 2 million». The official explained to the NACP that the documents had not been preserved and that he had stated the value based on his wife's words. This is a journalistic investigation citing an NACP audit: as far as is known, no criminal proceedings have been registered, no notices of suspicion have been served, and no report has been drawn up on this fact.
