According to NABU and SAPO, in March–August 2022 food for the needs of Regional Military Administrations was procured with funds of JSC «Ukrzaliznytsia» at inflated prices through controlled intermediary companies. Episode 1 (products of a Polish manufacturer): overpayment of over UAH 28.8 million. Episode 2 (products of a Turkish manufacturer, the price per kilogram rose from UAH 30 to UAH 55): overpayment of UAH 35.1 million; according to investigators, the then Deputy Minister of Economy joined the scheme and concealed data on more favourable offers. In total — almost UAH 64 million (in the 2023 notice of suspicion — over UAH 62 million, for the second episode — UAH 33.7 million). NABU does not name the persons; they are named by Bihus.Info and Suspilne journalists. Suspicions were served in August 2023; on 06.04.2026 NABU reported that the case had been sent to court. There is no verdict; the persons are presumed innocent until a verdict enters into force.
