According to NABU and SAPO, the Mayor of Sumy and the director of the city council's infrastructure department demanded an undue advantage for the executive committee setting a new household waste management tariff for a company and not obstructing its activities; receipt of UAH 2,130,000 was documented from November 2022 to October 2023. On 02.10.2023 they were caught after receiving the third instalment — UAH 1.43 million (Article 368(4) of the Criminal Code). On 18.09.2024 the indictment was sent to court. As of October 2026 no verdict had been found in open sources (the outcome of the trial has not been verified).
