Failure to declare housing and a parking space in Spain (purchased for EUR 190,000) in the declaration for 2020

According to NABU, a Member of Parliament of the 9th convocation did not include in his e-declaration for 2020 information about a two-storey duplex dwelling and a parking space in the province of Alicante (Spain), which he co-owns with his wife and which he bought in 2013 for EUR 190 thousand, as well as over USD 1.6 thousand in accounts in Ukrainian banks. NABU opened the proceedings after an investigation by “Schemes (RFE/RL)” (April 2021). In its declaration review conclusion, the NACP put the amount of false information at UAH 1.2 million; the record uses the amount from NABU's statement. A notice of suspicion under Article 366-2(1) of the Criminal Code was served on 13 January 2023. On 17 August 2023 the HACC delivered a guilty verdict with release from punishment due to the statute of limitations, but on 15 November 2023 the Appeals Chamber of the HACC overturned the verdict and released the MP from criminal liability due to the expiry of the statute of limitations (at the request of the defence). Closure due to the statute of limitations is not exoneration, but it does not establish guilt either; the guilty verdict in the case did not enter into force.
