Bonuses for the Stockholm arbitration at NJSC "Naftogaz of Ukraine" (charges of misappropriating over UAH 229 million)

According to SAPO and NABU, in 2018 the Chairman of the Board of NJSC "Naftogaz of Ukraine", abusing his office, initiated consideration by the Supervisory Board of bonuses for employees for the victory in the Stockholm arbitration against Gazprom and secured for himself the payment of bonuses of more than UAH 229 million (according to SAPO — about USD 10 million), which, according to the prosecution, exceeds the limits set by Cabinet of Ministers Resolution No. 859. On 19 January 2023, he was served a notice of suspicion (Article 191(5) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine); on 29 November 2023, the indictment was sent to the HACC; on 14 December 2023, the trial on the merits began. Discrepancy: SAPO cites "more than UAH 229 million", Transparency International Ukraine ("HACC Decided") — UAH 261 million in total bonuses; the record uses the amount from the SAPO statement. The defence asserts that the Cabinet of Ministers resolution did not apply to the Chairman of the Board and that the decision on bonuses was made by the Supervisory Board. Bail, initially set at UAH 229 million, was reduced from UAH 80 million to UAH 50 million on 30 April 2026. Official statements do not name him; the name is based on data from Transparency International Ukraine and LB.ua. There is no verdict; the person is presumed innocent.
