Suspicion regarding an expert examination in the case of the National Guard apartment swap with “Ukrbud”

According to NABU and SAPO (notice of suspicion of 18.12.2020, Article 369(3) of the Criminal Code), Oleh Tatarov, formerly a lawyer for «Ukrbud», may have been involved in providing an undue advantage for the issuance of a false forensic expert opinion in a case concerning the misappropriation of property of the National Guard. The episode amount is the National Guard's damages in the case as a whole according to NABU (UAH 81.64 million); the suspicion against Tatarov concerned providing an undue advantage, not misappropriating these funds. Bihus.Info cites a sum of about UAH 80 million. In December 2020 the case was transferred from NABU to the SBU; on 14.12.2021 the Shevchenkivskyi District Court of Kyiv obliged the prosecutors to close the proceedings due to expiry of the pre-trial investigation time limits (Article 284(1)(10) of the Criminal Procedure Code), and on 21.04.2022 they were closed. This is not an exonerating ground, but it is not a verdict either: guilt has not been established by a court. Tatarov denied his involvement.
